Afternoon Extended Care
Extended Care provides afternoon care for children from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM, on the days school is in session. Preschool Extended Care and Elementary Extended Care are separate programs.
● Preschool Afternoon Extended Care is held in and around the preschool playground area and in the classrooms depending on weather conditions.
● Elementary Afternoon Extended Care is held in the Parish Hall, Upper and Lower Playground or library depending on weather conditions.
In the 2026-27 school year, the extended care program begins on Monday, August 24th.
Ventana offers two blocks of time for extended care:
3:00 PM to 4:30 PM or
3:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
Families can pick up their children at any point during that period but will pay for the full time.
Pick up for extended care is at 4:30 PM or 5:30 PM sharp. Late pick-ups will be charged at a rate of $1 per minute.
Signing Up for Afternoon Extended Care
Starting August 5th, families can sign up for extended care and schedule care through the their Veracross Parent Portal. After creating an account, families will have the option to purchase a Year Subscription (Aug. 24 - June 8), or schedule individual “drop in” days and receive an invoice at a later date to be paid through the parent portal.
Pricing is the same for preschool and elementary.

Extended Care Pricing
Yearly Subscriptions
Yearly Subscriptions are designed to support families who use extended care daily. They offer a small discount. A 10-month subscription is available for both preschool and elementary students (Aug 24, 2026 - June 8, 2027).
If a family has purchased a Yearly Subscription for 3:00 to 4:30 PM but would occasionally like their child(ren) to stay until 5:30, they may purchase a “Top-Up” session and schedule them as needed.
Yearly Subscriptions will be available for purchase through Sept. 4, 2026. The purchases are non-refundable.

10 Month Subscription (excludes conference days) 3:00 - 5:30 PM: $8,350
*Elementary families who purchase a Yearly Subscription receive a discount for enrichment classes. Each Yearly Subscription applies to a specific child, and the discount is matched to that child.
**Yearly subscription must be purchased before signing up for enrichment classes to ensure that the discount is applied.
Single Day Rates
We understand that sometimes families need care for a single day per month. We also recognize that sometimes unforeseen circumstances require families to urgently need extended care on a particular day.
Single Day Drop-In: 3:00 - 4:30 PM: $32.60
Single Day Drop-In: 3:00 - 5:30 PM: $54.35
Single Day Top Up (4:30-5:30 PM): $21.75
Top-Ups
Families who have yearly subscriptions for 3:00 to 4:30 PM, or schedule an enrichment class that ends at 4:30 PM, have the option to purchase a “top-up” to extend their time on a particular day. Top-ups are available in single sessions and may not be used to cover fees associated with late pick-ups.
Preschool Children in Extended Care
Preschool students will be escorted to and signed into extended care by their teachers by 3:10 PM. The program includes engaging Reggio-inspired materials, free exploration, and outside playtime.
During Extended Care, snacks will be provided at 3:15 PM. Snack is provided again at 4:45 PM for students staying till 5:30 PM.
Elementary Children in Extended Care
Elementary students will be dropped off at the Parish Hall or Upper Playground by the teachers at 3:10 PM. Snack will be provided at 3:15 PM.
Extended Care Late Pick-Up
All families are required to sign their children out on the roster for both preschool and elementary extended care. Families neglecting to sign out will be charged for care until 5:30 PM. Families unable to make the 5:30 PM pick-up deadline will be charged $1.00 per minute until they arrive. Please notify the office at 650-948-2121 if you are running late. Select the option to be connected to Extended Care.
Preschool and/or elementary children who have not been picked up by 3:10 PM, will be escorted to the Extended Day program and signed in by classroom teachers. Parents will receive an invoice for their child’s stay in extended care through their Veracross portal. The charge will not be prorated if children are picked up before 4:30. If children are not picked up until after 4:30, families will be charged for care from 3:00 to 5:30.
Communicating Changes to Extended Day Plans
Please contact the school office at 650-948-2121 to notify school staff of unexpected, same-day extended day changes if you need to:
1. Sign your child up for extended care on short notice due to unexpected circumstances.
2. Pick up your child/children at 3 pm who were already scheduled for extended care.
3. Request communication to a child regarding changes to pick-up plans.
Other Extended Care Policies
Extended Care on Minimum Days and Professional Development Days
In order to provide a high-quality program, it is important that our Extended Care faculty participate in the professional development opportunities available for the entire faculty. Therefore, care is not available for students during all of our professional development days. Extended Care is also not available on minimum days. There is no Extended Care on school holidays. The specifics will be outlined in the Ventana Google Calendar.
Extended Care on Parent-Teacher Conference Days
Extended care is available during conference days on a per-hour basis. Special rates will apply. Sign-up information will be shared in school communications (The Weekly).
