Ventana’s Spring Soirée

Annual Social & Fundraiser

Saturday, May 11th, 2024

5:30pm to 10:00pm

Palo Alto Elks Lodge

4249 El Camino Real, Palo Alto, CA 94306

Come dressed in your best Summer Cocktail attire and enjoy an evening with Ventana staff and fellow parents at this community-building event.

Featuring live music from our very own Nicola Berlinsky’s band, No Small Children, we’ll have dinner, drinks, and dancing in addition to the live and silent auctions.

Funds raised at the event go towards supporting three integral components of Ventana: Our program, our people, and our Flexible Tuition program.

Supporting our program means funding everything from new and engaging materials related to emergent inquiry work to field trips, books for classroom libraries, and our seemingly never-ending need for hot glue sticks, paint, and pom poms.

Our teachers and staff are the heart of Ventana, working tirelessly to foster children's intellectual curiosity, creativity, and social-emotional growth. Spring soirée funds go toward ensuring that we continue to recruit and retain teachers with competitive salaries and professional development opportunities.

Our Flexible Tuition program strengthens the socio-economic diversity of our community, an initiative that aligns with Ventana's Values. This year's "Fund-A-Need" paddle raise at the event will go toward bolstering our Flexible Tuition program, enabling the school to remain accessible to as many families as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Spring Soiree is a much-beloved community-building event at Ventana. We let our hair down and enjoy an evening together with Ventana staff, parents, alumni, and other community members. Join us for a fun-filled night with old friends and new!

The Annual Spring Soiree is also our biggest fundraising opportunity of the year. Attendees, live auction bidders, and silent auction bidders all play an integral role in supporting Ventana’s program and values.

  • The proceeds of the auction go towards closing the gap on the annual budget, it helps provide competitive wages to our stellar teachers, and it gives tuition assistance to families. 100% of this year's Fund-a-need donations go towards the tuition assistance fund. Socio-economic diversity is vital for our community as it enriches the educational experience for all students.

  • You can buy single tickets, sponsored tickets, or a table.

Sponsored Tickets: These packages allow you to make a tax-deductible donation while also purchasing two reduced-price tickets.

Tables: Buying a table allows you to get together with friends and all sit together. One family buys the table, and then other families give them money to buy tickets at their table. This option gives slightly reduced prices for individual tickets and allows groups of friends to plan a fun night sitting together.

  • We have dedicated items available only for the party. The rest of the items will be posted online - for these you can bid at the event by scanning a QR code or from your home by going to the auction website.

  • YES! We would love it if you can share details about our auction items with your friends and family! They can create an auctria profile to bid on online items or, if you are attending the Saturday event you can coordinate with them over the phone and bid for them.

  • Attend the Spring Soiree

Attend, enjoy, hang out with old friends, and build new connections in our community! (Yes, even if you do not plan to bid on auction items, we’d love to have everyone there for our biggest community event of the year!)

    Items to donate

Do you have a vacation house, timeshare, season tickets, or anything you would be willing to auction off for a fellow Ventana family to use, and the proceeds will go to the school? For example, families have donated a week or weekend to a vacation house in Tahoe, Carmel, or San Francisco. We have had families donate a set time frame or a flexible window. Whatever works best for you, we definitely would appreciate it! Season tickets are another great example. You may have 49ers, Earthquakes, or Sharks tickets to offer. Let us know, and we can include that in our silent auction.

    Connections to a business

Do you belong to a wine club? Or does your child take regular dance lessons or martial arts or art classes? Often, businesses would love to participate in our auction to grow their business. The hardest part for us, is just knowing who to ask. Sharing the contact information of a business you have a connection with is a great, easy way to help! We can draft an email from Ventana directly or write it up for you to share with your contact.

    Host a Community Party

Building community is another focus of the Spring Soiree. We have already launched the teacher experiences (to allow more time for the teachers to hold the events), and these are great fun for the kids. We would love to offer community parties that parents can host as well! We have had pool parties for the whole family, dinner for adults only, and a backyard barbeque for adults or the entire family! Please let us know if you have an idea and would like to host a party. Maybe you have a skill to share and can teach a class. Intro to coding? Bollywood dance lessons? Lead a Yoga class? We welcome your ideas!

    Bid on Auction Items

Bid on items in the live auction or silent auction to help raise funds for our school. (See above for more information on how funds raised are used.)

  • If you are looking for inspiration, we recommend summer cocktail attire! Here is a great guide on summer cocktail dress from StitchFix.

In years past, we dressed for a particular themed event. However, this year the dress code is more general. We want to see you there, wearing whatever feels most comfortable to you!
