Technically Speaking: Parenting in a Digital Age

Ventana's Education Connection workshop

Parents today are often conflicted about how and when to make use of the vast array of devices and programs intended to educate and entertain our children. Join us for an interactive conversation bringing multiple perspectives around the impact of technology on individual development, our families, and our wider communities. Woven throughout the panel conversation will be excerpts from the documentary films Miss Representation, which the Rev. Claire Dietrich Ranna co-wrote and co-produced before going to seminary, and The Mask You Live In. Rev. Claire will discuss the aims of those films and the importance of media literacy. Melissa Tonnison, a Ventana parent, and child and adolescent psychotherapist, will bring light to considerations around developmental psychology and how families can support healthy engagement with technology. Amanda Stewart,Director of Instruction, will reflect on the ways technology is used to further and enhance childhood education, particularly here at Ventana.

Childcare is available free of charge - just email office@ventanaschool.org after you buy your ticket to let us know you need childcare. Kids will be provided with a pizza dinner while you enjoy the event!
